Yoga and Diseases

If you are ill or suffering from illness, Yoga should be thought of as an additional treatment, rather than a substitute for any other. if you are suffering from a medical condition, you should discuss with your doctor especially if you have arthritis, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia or any other serious medical condition whether yoga is suitable for you.

Many yoga establishments offer special classes for those who suffer with such conditions as well as pregnant women. Although yoga can be beneficial during pregnancy, some of the postures may not be appropriate.

Everybody should be aware of the risks and warnings before starting a yoga class. Those with a history of retinal detachment, high blood pressure, glaucoma or a history of heart disease should refrain from certain positions and exercises. You should discuss this with your health care professional also.

Yoga is the ideal way to improve overall health for the vast majority of women and you can begin immediately. Wear something that is comfortable and allows you to move about easily. Leotards are a good option but if you feel conscious about wearing this type of outfit, you can wear a T-shirt and shorts. However try not to make them baggy as most instructors like to watch your posture to ensure you are doing it correctly. Be prepared to discover that most yoga classes request that you exercise in your bare feet.

Yoga sessions usually begin with slow, gentle warm up exercises, normally breathing and gentle stretches. The instructor will then take you through several of the yoga postures known as asanas. You will be requested to hold these positions for anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes. You will be in either a seated standing or prone position.

You should not be put off if you cant perform each posture perfectly. The importance is keeping it mindful and safe. The relevance of yoga is about the process itself so you don't have to do everything that the rest of the class is doing. With time, you will perfect your form without the need to push yourself beyond your limits.

It is important that you breathe slowly and deeply from your diaphragm and move around gently. Breaks should be taken as often as you wish and nothing should be performed that causes you genuine pain or discomfort.

Classes usually last between 60 and 90 minutes and attendance can be one or several times per week. It is very important that you develop a daily routine that includes a yoga workout for approximately 30 minutes. If this sounds too much, try exercising for f5 or 10 minutes then work your way up. Mediation and other relaxing exercises are the usual end to a yoga class. Try your best to fit yoga into your daily practice but if this is impossible, aim for 45 minute session four times a week.
